Baby3f

I was working for a pediatrics office when I decided to take a pregnancy test...and sure enough it was positive.  I just couldn't contain myself and told everyone at work right after.  Silly me...I wanted to keep the test forever but my husband wouldn't let me...for obvious reasons.

Let me tell you...of all three boys...Elijah really put it on me good.  I had morning sickness, afternoon sickness, evening sickness for a good six months...but even after that there would be days where I just could not stand the smell of certain foods and would feel sick to my stomach.  I tried everything from sea bands to ginger pills to crackers and I even drank Ginger Ale...I HATE GINGER ALE!!!!  But I endured and it was all worth it because while other mothers gained weight...I lost weight...but still gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

You knit me together in my mother's womb....
I am fearfully and wonderfully made....
My frame was not hidden from you when
I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
your eyes saw my unformed body.

-Psalm 139:13 (NIV)

My first ultrasound of Elijah...You can see him clearly!!!! (I hope) I have many ultrasound pictures of Elijah.  Doctors always said he seemed to be bigger than he should.  This ultrasound was just to determine whether or not I was pregnant with one or two...but obviously Elijah was the only one cooking in the oven.

April 10, 2003

Here is the ultrasound that surprised my husband and I.  Obviously, after having had 2 boys I wanted a girl.  I wanted a girl so bad that I gave away all of my older boys' clothes even before I found out I was having a boy.  Obviously I wasn't disappointed...the thought of having 3 little men...well 4 including my husband...just made me feel real secure and safe, but what's more amazing was the fact that we have 3 boys to carry on the family name "Boone" which I will teach is a name to feel priveledged to be born into...and who knows...if I hadn't gotten fixed we probably would've had an entire football team with no cheerleaders--well I could have been one (hahaha).

Born on September 09, 2003; 7 lbs 9 oz; 20 inches long at 9:00 p.m. on the dot; we were all amazed at the fact there were so many 9's...what a coincidence.  Elijah was born on his due date as was his older brother Lorenzo.  It took several trips to the hospital before they finally decided to keep me and break my water.  On our way to the hospital I was hungry and we stopped at Taco Bell for a bite because I really thought they would send me home like the 3 other times I thought I was in labor...but this time they kept me.  It was a labor of humor and love.  Nothing but laughter in the delivery room.  Everyone was cracking jokes as Elijah's head crowned and as I was pushing.  It was a FUN experience and I'd do it a thousand more times.

Elijah and mommy were discharged from the hospital today.  His discharge weight was 7 lbs 7 oz.  I couldn't wait to bring him home.

November 10, 2003

2 months -- well check-up; 14 lbs 9 oz; 24" long.  This day he received his first set of shots (poor baby) but like his aunt Grace says...he's a strong soldier.  There was bit of a concern for eczema on his face (like his brother Lorenzo) but eventually those cheeks were as soft as the rest of his skin.  Diagnosis:  WELL CHILD!!!!! and eczema :(

November 26, 2003
Elijah's first sick visit to the doctor.  He had a fever as did his brother Lorenzo at the time.  Doctor seemed very concerned about Elijah's breathing though.  He was congested and coughed a lot.  Diagnosis:  Fever, bronchiolitis.

Only 16 days after his 2 mo well baby visit...Elijah had already gained weight - - 15 lbs 1 oz.

Thanksgiving we (Elijah, Lorenzo, & mommy) spent at home on the couch watching Finding Nemo, which eventually became Elijah's favorite movie...I don't think it was by choice though (hehehe).  I forgot to mention that I was sick too :(

December 1, 2003

Another sick visit for Elijah.  Bronchiolitis again and on mommy's birthday :(

December 17, 2003
Elijah was seen this day at the doctor's...his first ear infection :( and another bout of bronchiolitis and possible reflux (my poor baby) but even sick Elijah was a happy camper.

This day he weighed in at 17 lbs 3 oz...GO ELIJAH!!!!!

December 20, 2003
The day I quit my job to work from home as a medical transcriptionist and be with Elijah and Lorenzo during the day.  The best decision I could have possibly made for the well being of my family.

December 24, 2003
Christmas Eve -- we spent this at my uncle Danny's house.  He had no idea what was going on around him.  He got plenty of gifts but again--he really could care less.

December 25, 2003

We spent Christmas day at my mom's house.  Again...he could care less what was going on.  The only thing on Elijah's mind at this time was eating...sleeping...and pooping.

January 14, 2004

4 months --Another well baby visit for Elijah; and more shots.  He weighed in this day at 18 lbs 6 oz and 26.75".  Diagnosis:  WELL BABY!!!!!  He was wheezing at this time also...but again...It wasn't obvious.

February 5, 2004
Today Elijah and I spent the whole day at the children's hospital.  He saw a Pulmonologist and had tests performed on him.  He had to drink barium through a bottle, which he did with ease...and he had to be still for X-rays which the nurse's kept saying how cooperative Elijah was...and of course complimenting his looks as well.

March 1, 2004
Another trip to the doc's.  Elijah's second ear infection; and respiratory acute distress.

Elijah weighed in this day at 21 lbs even!!!!
(His clothes were on so it may be off a little)

March 15, 2004
Elijah followed-up with his Pulmonologist and found all tests to be within normal limits.  He was however diagnosed with asthma and given inhalers (he used to be on the nebulizer machine).  The mask they provided me was so cute...it fit Elijah's face perfectly.

March 21, 2004
Elijah started cutting his first two...not one...but two teeth at the same time on the bottom.

March 26, 2004

6 months -- Elijah's 6 mo well baby check-up; and more shots.  Everything was all good.  He weighed in at 20 lbs and 29".  Diagnosis:  WELL CHILD!!!!!

April 14, 2004
Another doc appointment for my baby.  Elijah had an ear infection in both ears...as well as asthma :(

Today he had to get a shot of Rocephin in his thigh (ouch!), but what made it worse was that he had to get 3 of them...one this day...another on the 15th and again on the 16th (talk about strong soldier).

At 7 months my baby was 21 lbs 4 oz!!!!

May 11, 2004
I had to take my Elijah to the doctor.  He was on Pulmicort and Albuterol almost everyday and it was starting to stain his teeth--almost looked as if Elijah had just finish crunching on some dirt.  Of course baby's aren't supposed to have jacked-up teeth so like any mother would...I had him checked.  No one ever told me that I was supposed to rinse his mouth out with water after every treatment.  I have to keep my baby's smile pearly!!!!

June 1, 2004

Grandpa Lito threw a birthday party for Lorenzo at Chuck E. Cheese's.  Elijah would not stop looking at himself on the monitor above the camera...that's why he's looking upward.  He had a ball I'm sure.

June 18, 2004
9 months -- Elijah's 9 month check-up; no shots!!!!

Today he weighed in at 23 lbs 4 oz!!!!! Go Lijah...Go Lijah... It's ya birthday!!!!

July 8, 2004
I noticed Elijah's front tooth was chipped today.  I'm not surprised--with all them things he puts in his mouth.  I was worried though and called the doc and he just recommended that I take him to the dentist  if I was that concerned about it, but that it doesn't sound like anything to worry about.

September 5, 2004

Elijah finally took more than 2 steps and from there he started running and hasn't stopped since!!!!

September 9, 2004
Elijah's 1st birthday.  We didn't do much.  We just ordered pizza and bought a cake but we had fun anyway.  I will continue to celebrate Elijah's life...and I will acknowledge his birthdays as would any parent.  My only regret--I didn't take any pictures and I really haven't been like I should have, but I do have memories that I will hold dear to my heart and keep fresh even as time goes by.  How can you ever forget an unforgettable person?

October 13, 2004
As you already know...Elijah is in the high-risk category for the flu...so this day he received his first flu shot and cried a bit but was fine afterwards.

Today he weighed in at 25 lbs 14 oz at 1 year and 1 month!!!! (DANG)

October 22, 2004

12 month -- Today was Elijah's 12 month check-up; more shots.  I had already started him on regular milk and juice (the boy loves him some juice).  Diagnosis:  WELL CHILD!!!!

Elijah weighed in at 24 lbs 12 oz and 32.5".

December 24, 2004
We spent Christmas Eve at my dad and Mila's house.  The picture was taken at my mom's house though, earlier that day. By-the-way...ignore the date on the picture...it was obviously around Christmas time when this picture was taken (see the tree behind them?), my brother just didn't set the date on his camera. Don't even ask me what Lorenzo was doing in this picture 'cause I have no idea!!!  At my dad's house the kids played a lot but Elijah mostly clung to me and wouldn't run out into the family room, which was where everyone was at but the kids.  He would run out of the bedroom and into the family room smiling (probably waiting to be acknowledged) then once we saw him he would run back into the room where all the kids were at.  He did this quite a few times before finally getting tired.  Elijah fell asleep early that night while the other kids stayed up until 12:00 a.m. to open up their gifts.  He slept on my dad and Mila's bed up until it was time for us to leave.

December 25, 2004
Today we spent Christmas day at my aunt Roselyn's (mom's sister)  house.  We exchanged gifts and had some good Filipino food to eat.  The boys' auntie Lani and uncle Jeff swung by to visit the boys and give them their gifts, as well as a bite to eat.  Later on that day we went to my mom and Carlos'  house.   My brother flew in from Arizona close to a month before (I think) and he was there, along with my other brother JR.  Carlos' daughter was also there with her boyfriend.  It was a simple gathering but had a blast anyway.

January 11, 2005

15 month -- Elijah's 15 month check-up; more shots.  These were the last set of shots for Elijah until he turned 2.

This was written under History section of his chart:

Picky eater -- fruits, veggies, bread (doesn't like meat)
Speech - Only says "mama" (inappropriately), "dada" and babbles.
Points and grunts for things he wants.  Doesn't know body parts or doesn't point to objects.  Will follow commands if mom points (of course!)
Plays well with other kids.  Walks/runs well (DUH!)

Diagnosis:  WELL BABY!!!!!!!

February 25, 2005
Today I took Elijah to Otolaryngology for a hearing exam and an opinion on whether or not he needed tubes placed in his ears.  Everything was normal and heard everything fine.  The only problem I had was waiting with Elijah in the waiting room.  He was all over the place, but he cooperated for the physician's and that's all that mattered.

March 21, 2005
18 month -- Elijah's 18 month well baby check-up; no shots (Hoooray!).  He was referred to a speech therapist because of his delay...but I never got the opportunity to have him seen by one.  Diagnosis:  WELL BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Elijah weighed in today at 26 lbs 8 oz and 34.25"

Elijah was catching up on Lorenzo on height and probably would have surpassed him and I both (hahaha).  My baby was gonna be a tall one that's for sure!

Elijah was always above average in height (off the charts) and he was for a while with weight but then he fell within normal limits for weight.

March 27, 2005
Easter -- We spent this day at uncle Vher and auntie Alma's house.  We had fun because they have a huge backyard and the kids were all over the place.  When it came to the egg hunt I wasn't allowed to help Elijah and so I asked Anna to take him and they ended up scooping $34-38  worth of eggs!!!  Oh...and some candy.  We had a ball though.  All my little cousins and I were playing games like kickball, dodgeball, etc and just had a good ol' time.  Elijah got to run around the yard without having me tell him "Stop" or "No"--I'm sure he loved that!

April 15, 2005
Janelle had a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese's today.  As soon as me and the boys got there Elijah fell asleep.  I had to put him in his stroller so he could continue with his sleep, but as soon as the boy woke up...he was running up and down the aisle we were in and climbing all over the chairs and trying to jump over them.  He had some cake and pizza and a good ol' time.  We have him on video...which I am so thankful to have.

My mom and Carlos left for the Philippines this morning.  My mom stopped over to borrow my van and saw Lorenzo and Roshan sitting at the table eating breakfast.  She asked "Where's Bolingling?" and I told her that he was still asleep in my bed.

I don't know what the last memory is that my mom has of Elijah, but I'm sure she cherishes it as much as I do of my last memories of Elijah.

Carlos mentioned to me that they thought we were going to be at the airport to see them off, and that's when they were going to get a picture of the boys, but we never did go to the airport.

Before my mom left for the Philippines she just had a funny feeling and felt as if she shouldn't go and that she should stay, and I remember joking with her telling her to stay and that the feeling she had was a sign.  That maybe there would be some terrorist attack on the Philippines or something, but that didn't stop her.  She already had her flight scheduled, but little did we know that the feeling she had might have been for other reasons.  Reasons we would soon find out that following Tuesday.

I think it was this day (Sunday) or Saturday that Uncle Robbie (Daddy's bro) paid a visit.  He came down from Maryland and brought all the boys transformers, which Elijah would not put down.  He had one that was a car.  He hated it whenever the car would start falling out of place or transform.  He would bring it to me to put it back into the shape of a car, then he finally got fed up with it I guess and threw it in the toy box, but he carried that around for a while that day, wouldn't put it down.

The futon in my bedroom was full of clothes that day.  I think I spent the entire day folding the clothes, and while I was at it, I decided to go ahead and set out the kids' spring/summer clothes and put away their winter clothes.  The whole time I folded clothes I had my CD that had my favorite tunes on them playing in the background.  Elijah would run back and forth from my room to his and always ran into my room smiling at me.  That same day, my hubby's nephew Derrick came over and wrestled around with the boys as I washed dishes.  I'm just glad that this day was given to both uncle Robbie and cousin Derrick to see Elijah and play with him before the unexpected happened.

May 2, 2005
Elijah woke with a fever...throughout the day he got better.  It never crossed my mind that I would be putting him to sleep that night, never to see him again.  He danced that night, twirled, played with his brothers...that will be the the last thing I will remember of him.

May 3, 2005

Elijah did not wake today.  A very sad day for us all.

Hopefully time will fade the memory I have embedded in my mind of that morning when I saw Elijah.  It still haunts me at times...but I have 1 year 7 months and 24 days worth of memories to help forget that terrible morning...and very many people praying for us.

May 7, 2005
On this day we visited Elijah once more before they closed the casket.  Daddy placed Elijah's two little blue trucks that he loved to play with so much in each of Elijah's hands.  I kissed him all over his face and his hands and expressed my love for Elijah...I often said to him..."I love da Lijah" (how I would tell Elijah I loved him)  and finally said "good-bye".

Later this day we held his funeral services at Rosewood Memorial Park  and there he will be in "The Garden of Cherubs" laid to rest with other little babies until we see each other again.

Mommy and Daddy Love You Elijah
